Note: Junior Kindergarten is for students with 5th birthdays from September 1 through December 31 of that academic school year.  Students applying for kindergarten and 1st grade must be 5 / 6 years old by September 15, 2010. Exceptions may be made with older students based on school records, recommendations, and/or administrators’ discretion.

2. Notification

- If classes are full, you will be notified as soon as a space becomes available for your student. You must secure a student packet from the school office. Please complete the student packet and attach appropriate fees and forms. (see #3).

3. Student Application

- Please return the student application with the following forms and fee(s):

a. A non-refundable processing fee ($20 Grades Junior K-1)
b. A non-refundable processing/testing fee ($50 Grades 2-8)
c. Copy of the student’s most recent report card
d. Copy of the most recent achievement test (SAT/CTBS/STAR) scores.
e. Copy of the student’s birth certificate or passport.
f. Copy of immunization record (please check with physician to ensure immunizations are current).
g. Letter of recommendation from previous/current classroom teacher (Grades 1-8).

Note: An additional form, “Report of Health Examination for School Entry” is required for students entering junior kindergarten through first grade. The health form must be completed and submitted to the school office by June 10, 2010. (Students entering junior kindergarten or kindergarten must have their health examination AFTER March 15, 2010, to avoid repeating the process for first grade.)

4. Testing

- New students entering grades junior kindergarten through first must be given a readiness test administered by Chancey and Bruce Educational Resources, Inc., located in Huntington Beach (714) 841-1257. This $45 fee is payable at the time of testing. Students entering grades 2-8 will be given an entrance exam by the school administration. This $50 fee is payable at the time of testing.

5. Acceptance

- You will be notified of acceptance as soon as possible (steps 1-4 must be complete). Acceptance will be based on the following information:

a. Student’s desire to attend CCS
b. Parent(s’) agreement with CCS Statement of Philosophy
c. Report card grades and comments
d. SAT/CTBS/STAR test scores
e. School attendance/punctuality at previous school
f. Letter of Recommendation (required for grades 1-8)
g. Behavior in both the classroom and playground at previous school
h. CCS entrance test results
i. Completion of Step #3



6. Interview

- Administration will meet with all applicants and parents/guardians. The appointment may be arranged on the test date or at a future time.

7. Fees Due

- The following non-refundable fees will be due upon acceptance.

a. $300 Junior K-6 Registration / Curriculum Fee
b. $325 Jr. High Registration / Curriculum Fee
c. $ 20 Earthquake Fee - This fee is due upon acceptance into CCS as a new student and again in September when the student enters 5th grade.
d. $ 30 Junior K-8 Technology Fee
e. Applications for individual student scholarships are available upon the student’s 2nd year of enrollment.

Note: All students are on a nine week probationary period.
