Spiritual Growth
Christian Service Hours
At Calvary Christian Jr. High School it is a graduation requirement for each student attending to complete 5 hours of Christian service per quarter for a total of 20 hours of service per year in seventh and eighth grade.
Each student must serve a minimum of 5 hours per quarter but each quarter must reflect a different area of service. For example, a student may serve by babysitting during the first quarter but must serve in a different capacity for the second, third and fourth quarter. Our goal is not to burden you, but to expose your student to different ways to serve Christ by serving their church and community. (Ephesians 6:7-8)
Some examples of service are:
Babysitting (immediate family excluded)
Mowing lawns
Sunday school worker
Hospital volunteer
Visitation to Care House or another care facility
Light-the-Night (Calvary) set-up and booth work
Care and Concern Day at Calvary Church
Speech Meet teen helper
Operation Christmas Child
Sheepfold ministry
Helping a teacher before or after school
Helping the librarian
All service is to be unpaid and freely given to those outside (i.e. Service to family is expected, but not considered as service hours.) the student’s immediate family.
Your student has a form on which they should keep a record which needs to be signed and dated by the person/group served (No parent signatures please). They will be given a new form every quarter and are expected to turn in the form on or before the assigned day. It will be collected by their Bible class teacher for credit on their report card. Please ask to see the form periodically to insure completion by the assigned date.
Reminder: Christian Service is a requirement for graduation.
This is a wonderful means to demonstrate God’s love to our community. Thank you in advance for your help and support.
