What is Fargongo?

Fargongo is the story of what happens when community theater owner Alistair McGrath decides to hire his niece (Jackie) to write an original musical. He desperately needs a hit; his theater is near bankruptcy, and he would certainly love to beat the obnoxious Mrs. Belagor, who runs a successful theater right next door.

All is well until he learns that Jackie has cast the musical and begun rehearsals when she has written only one scene!  His stage manager (Beulah) and his own common sense tells him to fire Jackie and do something else before it’s too late. But there is something about Jackie’s story which begins to draw him in, for Jackie’s musical is based on true events of Alistair’s own family, his Aunt Mary and Uncle Henry, and their real life adventures as missionaries to the island of Fargongo in the late 1950s. They fought through riots, jungles and unreached tribes for something greater.

With interruptions from lost kids auditioning for Mrs. Belagor’s next musical “Annie”, and snoopy bankers calculating the value of his theater, will Alistair be able to hold off bankruptcy long enough to finish Jackie’s musical?  In the end, Aunt Mary’s story and the production of Fargongo will be Alistair’s undoing in more ways than one.
