“Family Matters” seminars wind down

Santa Ana– Calvary Church of Santa Ana is hosting a series of seminars on marriage and parenting issues with its “Family Matters” ministry. The courses are held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday nights through Nov. 18.

The series is designed to help couples with some of the biggest issues related to marriage and parenting. The challenges of building a healthy marriage and raising godly children are not easy tasks. Organizers hope to provide practical, biblical insights while demonstrating how to grow in faith by growing in relationships.

Topics and speakers for November include “How We Love as Parents: How Love Styles Affect Parenting,” Kay and Milan Yerkowich, Nov. 4; “Spiritual Formation and The Family,” Judy TenElshof, Nov. 11 and “Red Hot Monogomy,” Bill and Pam Farrel.

Annual ‘Light the Night’ Family Carnival at Calvary Church in Santa Ana this Friday, October 31

A family-oriented, safe alternative to trick-or-treating with games, candy, food and fun

Oct. 24, 2008— Santa Ana , Calif. — Calvary Church is hosting a night of fun for the whole community this Friday, October 31. For over 30 years, and with over 6,000 people in attendance each year, Light the Night has featured an array of activities for children of all ages, providing a safe alternative to trick-or-treating.
“ Calvary Church is excited to continue our tradition of providing a fun, yet safe festival for kids to enjoy on October 31,” said Dave Mitchell, Calvary ’s Senior Pastor. “We are delighted to come together with the surrounding community for a night of uplifting games, candy and family fun.”

Light the Night will be designed in a carnival style and include giant inflatable bounce houses, face painting, crazy balloons and game booths where kids can win candy. For older kids there will be activities such as a velcro wall, rock wall and gladiator joust. In addition, Light the Night will include delicious food and snacks from Chick-fil-A, Jerry’s Dogs, Papa John’s Pizza, Angelina’s Gelato and Jalapenos.

There will be a special area, “Lil’ Light the Night”, for kids toddler age through kindergarten with appropriate games and activities. Some activities are special sized bouncers, a miniature ‘cupcake walk’, a petting zoo, pumpkin patch, as well as a show from the ‘Faithful Hands Puppet Team’.

Light the Night will also include music throughout the evening from some of the best local bands in Southern California . Feature bands include One Hot Minute, Pawnshop Kings and Relentless Pursuit.

Light the Night is Friday October 31, from 5:30 to 8:30pm. Calvary Church is located at 1010 N. Tustin Ave in Santa Ana . The event is FREE.
