Vision & Rationale for Two Worship Services
Calvary’s Worship Value:
WORSHIP, the Magnification of the Lord our God.
Faithful individual Worship in a daily sacrifice of obedience to God, leading to inspiring corporate Worship to exalt God and experience Him in heart, mind and emotion…resulting in healthy spiritual and numerical growth. (Mark 12:30)
Our Opportunity:
This Worship Value is our overall goal and desire, but some are finding it difficult to participate in our current style of worship. Therefore, we want to enhance and enlarge the opportunity for those who now attend to worship more fully. Also, we want to reach more new people who can join us in our worship experience. To accomplish this, we would like to provide two different worship options in the Sunday morning schedule.
Our Goal:
A more focused consistent style of worship for each Sunday service.
Provide music and a message that is targeted more closely to the “heart language” of each person who attends. “Heart language” is that style, music and form of worship which allows each person to fully and passionately communicate in worship with our Lord.
Avoid extreme experiences of music, volume, style and length which distract from some people’s worship experience.
A more unified worship for each service.
We will combine our two current services into our first hour of worship. This will free up a new time for an additional service in the second hour of worship.
As we combine together with one common voice in each of the two services, our hope is to worship in greater unity by providing the style that best allows each service to worship together. This will avoid worship elements, like song selections and instruments, which inhibit some from a full participation.
Greater outreach opportunity.
People like to have choices. Right now, we only will reach those who prefer our present style of worship. And at times, this style reaches too far in one extreme or another, so people do not know what to expect each service. This curtails the desire to invite a friend, because the style is deemed too inconsistent in the view of some attendees.
By providing two different worship experiences, each worshiper will know what to expect each Sunday and be more willing to invite a friend as a result.
Also, the new service will attract new people who have a preference for this additional worship style.
Expand our age parameters at Calvary.
This new worship service will create a new worship atmosphere that often attracts younger people. How great that our children, grandchildren and their friends will find a worship style that keeps them here at Calvary.
This additional worship service, however, will not be exclusively a young person’s service. People of all ages will find a refreshing way to worship our Lord in each of the services we will provide.
Growth for our future. The next 75 years.
We must provide authentic and passionate worship experiences for all ages both today and for our future. As we celebrate 75 years of ministry at Calvary, we believe it is a healthy step to enhance the worship we now enjoy and add another opportunity to include new people who will help us grow our church for the future. As more find an opportunity to worship authentically in their own “heart language,” they will both stay here and new ones will join us in fulfilling our vision of worshiping our God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength.
