Every minute 12 children die from starvation. Kids Around the World (KAW) is part of the solution to world hunger and is one of Calvary’s Reach Global mission partners. We will be partnering with KAW during Global Reach Week 2011 by hosting Meals for Haiti*.
Join us on March 12 at 11:30 am in the GYM as we fill packets with nutritious food for children in Haiti. We are asking YOU to help us by inviting your friends, family and neighbors to join us as we package up these meal. We will be advertising this effort to our community too!
Invite someone to join you at the packing event on Saturday, and then come back on Sunday morning as Josh McDowell shares a great missions message with us! This is a great opportunity to get people here that normally don’t come to church – and your chance to show them how we share God’s love in action.

* One food package contains six servings. When used, each package is prepared in less than 20 minutes by adding to it boiling water. One box shipped contains 36 packages and feeds 216 children. One pallet contains 66 boxes with 2,376 packages and feeds 14,256 children! The food is a rice and soy mix fortified with 21 vitamins and minerals, six dehydrated vegetables and chicken flavoring. This soy (52% protein) and nutrient rich formula reverses the starvation process and its effects. Each filled packet costs 25 cents, which covers everything from raw ingredients to the shipping of the container. The distribution of the food is done through local partners in Haiti to ensure children receive the meals.
