Frequently Asked Questions 


What do I need to do to become a member of Calvary Church?

    • Receive Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior.
    • Be baptized by water immersion, after receiving Jesus as your personal Savior, in demonstration of your faith in Him.
    • Attend all four membership classes
    • Be interviewed by an Elder
    • Be approved by the Board of Elders

What if I would like to receive Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior?

    • In your Membership Class notebook there is a small brochure titled "Do you know the way to Heaven from Here? that will help you understand what it means to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
    • Also, any of the Calvary Church staff members that you meet during this class would be happy to talk with you.

What do I need to do to be baptized?

    • Attend the one-time Baptism class.
      • The Adult Baptism class usually meets on the Sunday following the fourth membership class in W-202 or W-203 at 8:45 am and 10:30 am. You may attend either class.
      • The Children's Baptism class (for first through sixth grade) meets as needed. Contact the Children's Ministry office at x348 for more information.

What if I miss a class? Can I still become a member of Calvary Church?

    • All classes are important and must be completed before you become a member. However, a missed class may be made up during the next Membership Class. The Body Life Ministries office will notify you as to the date, time and location. Record keeping is very important, so please remember to sign in.

When will I be interviewed by an Elder and approved by the Board of Elders?

    • An Elder interview will be scheduled during the second, third or fourth week of class, either before or after the class session.
    • At the monthly Elder meeting (they meet the 4 th Thursday of each month) your name will be on a list for final approval. This will be your official date of church membership.

What happens after my membership has been approved by the Board of Elders?

    • You will receive a letter welcoming you to the membership of Calvary Church.
    • You will be formally introduced to the congregation by Pastor David Mitchell during the morning worship service (usually the Labor Day service in September).
