A Challenge To Grow as Followers of Jesus

09.27.18 | by Eric Wakeling

Calvary Family,

We have the wonderful privilege to hear from Pastor David Mitchell this Sunday. I wanted you to know how blessed I have been to continue to work with Dave. He is a great mentor and sounding board for me in this new season. He will be preaching this Sunday on a difficult passage in Mark's biography of Jesus that talks about millstones being hung around necks, plucking out eyeballs, chopping off hands and the unquenchable fires of hell. So we gave this one to Dave! Ha ha.

However challenging this passage is for us, it's a great reminder to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus and His primary commands for us. The Great Commandment is to love your God with all of your being and to love your neighbor as yourself. The Great Commission is to make followers of Jesus as you go about your life each day.

Love God, Love our neighbor, Make disciples.

This Sunday we will be challenged to be growing as followers of Jesus, to live pure and peaceful lives and to keep focused on the mission of Jesus.

Please join me in praying at 10:02am every day the prayer of Luke 10:2 for God to send workers for the harvest. This means to pray for more people to share the Good News of Jesus with others. Pray for Courage, Heart, Opportunities and Words to say.

May the Lord Bless You and Keep You,

Eric
