Artist Ministry

This ministry exists so that our church family will use art as a medium in equipping our believers to reach our world for Christ. This will accomplish our vision of introducing our world to Jesus Christ thorough visual art.

Our Artist Ministry is involved in various areas of Calvary Church such as, helping to decorate our Worship Center at special times during the year as well as assist with sets, etc. for our yearly Christmas production in December.

They receive requests for special drawings at various times and are always happy to comply.

We also have a Beginning Acrylic and Oil Class offered each year and an Art Festival during the spring. Worship ministries also has a Reflective Gallery, which exhibits works that correspond to the current teaching series. To learn more, check out our Fine Arts Ministry page . There is also a Creative Art Team that works primarily with the Art of Elevation.

Athletics

Athletics is a ministry "beyond the sanctuary" to break down social barriers and build stronger Christ-centered relationships by providing opportunities for fellowship, outreach and service.

Athletics is a common denominator that bridges across ethnic, language, cultural and economic barriers. This attribute makes athletics an ideal vehicle for reaching people for Christ who would resist other means. These programs are available for you to enjoy and use for your own evangelism, discipleship and fellowship. Join with those who are already participating.

Calvary Church has athletic ministries in the following areas:

Hoop, Hoop, Hoop it up for HOOP CAMP - for 4th - 8th grade boys and girls begins on July 12, 2009. This week of quality basketball instruction will cover such skill tactics as: passing, post up moves, dribbling, guard play, offensive strategies, and so much more. The cost is $160 if registration is received by June 16th. Come by the Church office and pick up a registration form.

Women's Aerobics - Body & Soul Program meets in C-200 every Saturday at 8:00 a.m. and Tuesday and Thursday at 6:30 p.m. The program is suitable for women of all age groups. For more information call the Women's Ministry office at ext. 322.

Basketball (Men) - Open basketball is played on Mondays 5:30 -6:45 p.m. and Saturdays 6:00 - 8:30 a.m. in the Gym. Open basketball for 40+ is played on Tuesdays 5:30 - 7:00 p.m.

Coed Bowling - The Calvary Bowling League begins in September and goes to March. They bowl at Tustin Lanes every other Saturday at 6:15 PM. Couples, families, singles and children 12 and up are welcome. For more information, contact Chip Chop at (714) 972-8083.

Coed Softball - League play begins in September for the Fall season and in April for the Spring season. Watch for sign-up announcements in the Sunday bulletin. Games are played on Sunday mornings. For dates and more information contact Kay Elzea at (714) 928-1740.

Coed Volleyball - Open play is available every Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in the Gym. If you have questions about the level of play, call Mitch Fredericks at

Martial Arts - These are Christ-centered classes offered to all who would like to participate. Our classes are great opportunities for families to exercise and have fun together. No prior experience or uniforms required.

Karate, Tumbling, Games, Fitness and Developmental Skills Ages 3-7

Mondays, 6:15 - 7:00 PM in C-200

Fee: $20/1st child, $10/2nd child, $40 for 3 or more children

Parent participation or supervision is required for 3-5 years

Parent volunteers with dance and/or ball sport skills are wanted!

Okinawan Goju Ryu: (Traditional Karate)

Mondays, 6:00 - 7:15 PM in C-200 Children (8+), Teens and Adults

Wednesday, 7-8:30 PM, The Modular Adults (18+)

Fee: $20/1 student, $10/2nd student, $40 for family (3 or more)
