Lloyd Peckham

Lloyd began attending Calvary when it was located at 6th & French at age 4 in 1957, 54 years ago. He accepted Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord at home at about age 5, influenced by the Wattrouses and Armstrongs and other leaders in the Beginners Department. God gave a hunger for His Word, even before Lloyd could read, and the call to missions came at about age 7 through missionaries Ken and Gloria Radach in an evening service. Normal school work was taken very seriously from then on as intentional preparation for global service.

Lloyd had already applied to Wycliffe Bible Translators in 1974 when he met another applicant, a nurse named Nancy. They married in 1975 and served as translators and consultants in Indonesia, Philippines, and Singapore until 2009. Three sons were born to them on the island of New Guinea. Currently two are married and living in California. One is unmarried and in med school in Oregon. Lloyd and Nancy have one grandchild.

Before going overseas, Lloyd taught Sunday School, served as interpreter for missions trips to Mexico, and helped in camping ministries. Lloyd and Nancy are still missionaries with Wycliffe, although Lloyd currently teaches linguistics to future colleagues in the “SIL at Biola” program. He also speaks in various settings at Calvary and has a chaplain-like role amongst bicyclists.

Hobbies include whittling, climbing, fishing, bicycling, sailing, hiking, bird-watching, star-gazing and anything outdoors.
