Reach: Local

Calvary has formed strategic partnerships with non-profit organizations in our community that meet the 3 C's: they are CLOSE to Calvary, they have CONSISTENT volunteer opportunities that allow for ongoing relationships to be developed, and CHRIST can be shared through their organization.  The opportunities listed below line up with these values as we do our part to REACH Orange County and the World for Jesus Christ.

LifeGroups and Local Outreach – Summer 2009

There is something so powerful about a LifeGroup serving together to meet the needs of others! This summer, we have several opportunities for your LifeGroup to serve our community in the name of Jesus. Pick one or several and go out and serve.

Serve Day Orange County – Saturday, July 25th (*Family Friendly)
Over 40 Orange County Churches will join together on this day to serve our county. Each Church creates individual service opportunities and places these opportunities on the Serve Day website (www.serveday.org)

Friday’s at the Fair – Fri. July 17th, Fri. July 24th, Fri. July 31st
Calvary Church will be hosting the “Kids Chapel at the Fair” on each Friday of the Orange County Fair. The Chapel is an interactive booth where kids can hear the story of the Gospel and sign up to receive a year’s subscription to a Children’s Devotional Magazine (sponsored by Child Evangelism Fellowship).
Volunteers are needed in 3 hour increments from Noon to 11pm each Friday.
Volunteers will be greeters at the door of the Chapel and story tellers inside the chapel. A brief 1 hour training will take place before your selected day.
Many of the kids who stop by the Chapel have never heard the story of Jesus before. Your LifeGroup will have the opportunity to make an eternal difference in the life of a Child! Sign your group up by contacting Matt Doan at 714.550.2378 or mdoan@calvarylife.org

We also have ongoing ministries to those who are homebound, in care facilities, in hospitals and to children without families:

Care Facility & Homebound Visitation

We reach out to those of our Church family who are homebound and to those who are in a care facility. We do this in two ways: by telephone calls and by personal visits. If you would like to participate in this loving and rewarding ministry, we are taking applications now for volunteer home callers. Your commitment will be to call a list of homebound people every week for one month. Also, we are taking applications for people to visit Care Facility residents once a month for four months. If you have questions or would like to participate, please call Pastor Fred Morse at ext. 367 or Janice at ext. 310.

Hospital Visitation

Each week the Calvary Church hospital visitation team visits our people in local hospitals. These visits are in response to prayer request cards turned in during the Sunday services as well as telephone calls that come in to the Church office. Please keep us informed of those in our Church and their immediate family as a need arises. Contact Janice in the Care and Concern Office on ext. 310.
