“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.”  John 1:14.

Septmber 5, 2010 at Calvary Church of Santa Ana

Our Missions Emphasis Sunday this year will be moving to September 5 as we look again at our theme of the Word Among Us and are challenged by our guest speaker,

Michele Rickett, founder and president of SIS (Sisters in Service).  This is one of three agency that we support on a monthly basis as their work in itself is exceptional or one of a kind.  In this regard, SIS is the only mission agency that we have found whose soul purpose is sharing Christ through working with women and children in the hardest and most persecuted areas of the world.  Sisters In Service (SIS) is a global outreach ministry specializing in empowering women and girls against abuse and exploitation.  Michele's schedule takes her all over the world and we will have the oppotunity of hearing from her on Sunday morning. Michele has just released her new book, Forgotten Girls.  Her other book Daughters of Hope is available in the missions office.

In the majority of the world women and girls suffer unimaginable torment. It is no coincidence that those at greatest risk live in places least reached with the gospel, in the belt of nations from West Africa to Asia. Where the message of Christ is suppressed women are the most poverty-stricken, have the least access to healthcare, and are the least-educated. ~ Michele Rickett
