All-Family Sunday at 10:00am
Dear Calvary Family,
Last Sunday we finished our series on discipleship called GO FISH and then this week has been all about making disciples for Jesus through our Stellar VBS. What a week! We will gather to celebrate all that God has done in our All-Family Sunday, starting at 10:00am.
I wanted to talk a little about our vision for discipleship and how we responded to the message on Sunday. Discipleship is learning to love like Jesus by giving away what we have received. If you weren’t able to be there, we went through a helpful process called the Discipleship Inventory Reflection where we completed a handout you can find at CalvaryLife.org/Disciple that showed us the different ways that we have received from God and others when it comes to following Jesus.
And since we identified all these ways we have received, that means we have the ability to give those away as well. We can help others grow in their faith or even hear about Jesus for the first time. We also learned that the boxes we didn’t check are wonderful opportunities for growth where we can be discipled by others. But we need to ask for that and pursue that - not just hope it happens someday. I highly encourage you to check out the resources available at CalvaryLife.org/Disciple and take steps toward both being discipled and discipling others.
Then we lived out disciple-making this week at VBS! It has been a mind-blowing time of fun, worship, learning, crafts, missions, recreation, snacks, Bible-teaching and more! You can get a glimpse into the action from each day and watch all of the VBS Videos, including movie episodes and daily highlights on our Vimeo or Youtube.
And again, please join us for our All-Family Sunday, starting at 10:00 am. Make sure you see that time! 10:00am. This will be a United Service with our English, ASL, Spanish and Mandarin languages represented with all ages as well in a service that will include worship and teaching from the Bible, along with inspiring stories from this year’s Stellar VBS! Then we will have a Party on the Patio afterwards to continue to celebrate and meet some new people. (There won't be separate kids' programs, or regular 9am/11am ministries this day, as everyone gathers to celebrate together.)
Thank you so much for bringing your donations and giving of your time. We had over 400 volunteers here all week serving our children and we are incredibly grateful. This could not happen without your generosity and your prayers.
May the Lord bless you and keep you,
Eric Wakeling
