"But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence. They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought.
Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit."

ABOUT CALVARY'S LIFE COUNSELING MINISTRY

The Calvary Life Counseling Ministry is a team of non-professional Volunteer Counselors, and is a biblically-based, short-term, non-fee ministry of Calvary Church Santa Ana, serving the people of Calvary Church, and the community. Life Counseling is part of Calvary's Soul Care Ministries, striving to effectively integrate God’s Word, prayer and the best counseling tools and techniques available with the approach of truth and grace. Our passion is to offer God’s hope and healing to assist individuals to be the people God intends them to be in order to fulfill what God intends them to do.

Hi, I’m Pastor Jim. I am a graduate of Talbot Seminary with a master's degree in Theology with Greek emphasis and 25 years of pastoral counseling experience. My wife Betsy and I celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary in 2022 and have two sons and two grandchildren. My life experiences have taught me that we all experience pain and loss and would benefit from a safe and caring individual to help us process these difficult, and at times, confusing circumstances. It is my goal to connect you with the help you need whether it be Life Counseling, Marriage Counseling, Premarital Counseling, Stephen Ministry, Celebrate Recovery, Grief Share, or outside referrals.

The best way to determine what would be most helpful would be to meet with me one on one in a caring and confidential interview. Together we can discover which of our highly trained and skillful volunteers would be the best fit for your individual needs, or whether an outside professional would be in your best interest.

All of our Soul Care ministries are Christ-centered and bible based, but we also integrate the best practices of psychology and counseling into our care. Together we invite Jesus into the healing process of our wounds and misdirected coping strategies so that we are transformed by the renewing of our minds (Romans 12:1-2, Ephesians 4:23-24). Our volunteers are the caregivers, but it is He who is the cure giver.

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.”  - 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
