Faith in the Midst of Fear
Dear Calvary Family,
The word of the year is "uncertainty" and with that comes anxiety and fear. This week in America we continue that theme with the election, the wait for results with lawsuits and recounts, the potential of civil unrest, the possible surge of the coronavirus, and all of our own personal and family issues. This is "certainly" a time of fear for many people.
Faith is vital in seasons of fear.
But what is faith? How can I have more faith? How does God strengthen my faith in the midst of fear?
These questions and more were all on the mind of the people in the Bible at the time the book of Hebrews was written. They had their own reasons for fear and doubt as they went through great persecution, suffering and mockery because of their belief in Jesus as the Messiah. The eleventh chapter of Hebrews describes faith and shows us how to have faith in our own seasons of doubt and persecution.
This Sunday we begin a four-week series on Hebrews 11 entitled, "What is Faith?" I know this will help you in times of ease and times like these. I look forward to seeing you.
