Filled with Gratitude & Joy
Dear Calvary Family,
Merry Christmas! Whatever your reaction to the election results this week, our calling in this season and every season remains – keep our eyes fixed on Jesus and reflect his light and love to our neighbors and the nations.
LIGHT THE NIGHT UPDATE: I’m filled with gratitude and joy from the generosity of our church family with time, cakes, candy, and finances to make our fall festival outreach a massive success. There were over 6,000 people who came to Calvary Church and experienced the love and welcome of God through this event! Many people stepped foot on a church property for the first time in their lives. One man was at the bus stop and was invited by some Calvary people and he came! He was in the parking lot and asked where the church was and Matt Doan told him, “It’s right here! You’re at the church now.” It was his first time to a church.
We know of at least two people that received Christ as their Lord and Savior that night. Many many people received prayer at our Prayer Booth and from the people assigned to walk around and ask people if they needed prayer. We know of many Afghan refugees who attended as well. This is all so incredible and was only possible through your generosity. Thank you!
QUARTERLY GIVING UPDATE: We praise God that in the first quarter of this fiscal year, the faithful giving by our church family has enabled us to fund over $1 million of ministry - and we are within $24,000 of the target for our General Ministry fund. This quarter, our Reach Missions fund has been able to fund almost $200,000 of ministry locally and globally in Jesus’ name - and is within $20,000 of the budget goal. Thank you for your continued support!
GLOBAL SUNDAY INVITATION: We also look ahead to our annual fall Global Sunday on November 10, where we will highlight our Reach strategic focus of “Bibles for Everyone” and hear from Bible translators from around the world. We will learn about the experiences and the challenges to get the Bible into every language on earth. We will be inspired by their stories and the unique ways Calvary has been able to play a part in this work for 90 years. And, we will explore how we can join in and be part of the great story of God being told in the nations. Discover more at CalvaryLife.org/Sunday.
So whether it’s reaching our neighbors at Light the Night or the nations through Bible translation, we are dependent on the generosity of each person in our church family. Your giving is vital for any of this to take place. Calvary Church is an independent, non-denominational church that can only accomplish what God allows through the giving of your time, talent, and treasure. Thank you!!
May the Lord bless you and keep you,
Eric Wakeling
