Have you become a member of Calvary Church yet?
Dear Calvary Family,
Have you started attending Calvary Church recently? Have you been at Calvary for a while but still don’t really know the history and beliefs of our church? Have you gone to Calvary for many years but aren’t a member?
I would love for all of you to consider becoming a member of Calvary Church. We have a Discover Calvary Membership Class this Sunday!
Formal membership in a church isn’t a biblical command or anything like that. We are all members of the Capital “C” Church when we are saved by Jesus. Formal members of Calvary aren’t better than attenders who aren’t members. There’s no secret, special club that’s exclusively for members. I want to make sure that we understand all this before we talk more about being a member.
There are a few things that are unique for members at Calvary. Membership is required to serve in most roles here at Calvary like LifeGroup Leader or Sunday School Teacher. Membership is required to vote on certain things - affirming new elders, spending certain large amounts of money, and my personal favorite - voting to hire or fire the Senior Pastor. So please don’t become a member if you want to fire me. Just playing. Mostly.
Membership is also a way to say you are committing to this body of believers - to get plugged into community, to serve, to pray for the mission of the church, to give, to disciple others, and to invite people into the church and to a relationship with Jesus. As members, you make certain commitments to the body of believers here at Calvary and the body of believers here at Calvary make certain commitments to you. We are united together in Christ and we care for each other like a family.
Again, we have our Discover Calvary Membership Class this Sunday, February 20 from 12:30 - 2:30 pm in the Fireside Room. This is the path to membership but also a great way to discover more about Calvary Church.
Come learn more about the Calvary family, church membership, and opportunities to get connected! In an interactive and engaging afternoon, we’ll talk about how God designed His church to function and explore our church's history, beliefs, and more. It's also a great way to get to know others at Calvary, including some of our pastoral staff, and for us to get to know you as well!
Lunch is is provided, so please RSVP today at CalvaryLife.org/Member
May the Lord bless you and keep you,
