The Heart of Our Mission
Dear Calvary Family,
What are your deepest hopes and longings when it comes to your relationship with God? Do you want to have your prayer life to be more alive and meaningful? Do you want talking with God to feel more like a conversation and not just a speech you must perform? Do you want to be led by the Lord and have a sense of his direction in your life? Do you want to listen to God and hear from him? Do you want to have a fruitful life of impact that makes a difference in your family, in your school or workplace, in your community and beyond?
We want to equip you with the foundational knowledge and practice to have these hopes and longings become a reality in your life. We want to equip you for a full life with Jesus. That’s the heart of our mission here at Calvary Church – equipping everyone for the adventure of life with Jesus to bless the world.
I talked about this whole new Mission, Vision, and Calling last Sunday in our United worship service. We are preparing to equip all of you to hear from God, walk with Jesus, and live on mission.
We have something we are calling Journeys as a discipleship pathway that will help equip every single one of us for these callings from the Lord. The first Journey - Hear from God - will start in September and will directly address those hopes and desires we all have for a closely connected life with Jesus, where we experience his ongoing guidance and direction.
We have three Journeys for you to experience and be equipped for the adventure of life with Jesus to bless the world.
Journey 1 - Hear from God
Journey 2 - Walk with Jesus
Journey 3 - Live on Mission
Each Journey is seven sessions of inspiring content rooted in Scripture and times of connecting in a group through learning and prayer. These Journeys are done together - all moving through a shared experience, covering a wide variety of terrain to take us somewhere new. Plus, during each Journey, there are about 40 days of practicing and extending those learnings on your own, and a few with others, through Daily Exercises.
Why are we doing all of this? Because we believe that we can grow together and make an impact for Christ together! Whether this is a first step that sets your course for a lifetime of further discipleship, a pivot point that redirects you along the way, or motivation to keep going in your journey with Jesus - my prayer is that this is not just a mission statement or just another class, but the forming of a foundation that helps us to truly be one church hearing from God, walking with Jesus, and living on mission.
May the Lord bless you and keep you,
Eric Wakeling
