Value of Community

6/18/26 | The Weekly | by Eric Wakeling

    Dear Calvary Family,

The bible passages we have covered in our messages over the last few weeks have included fellowship, meeting together in homes, and sharing meals with one another. Acts 2 is a story of miracles and the Holy Spirit, but also a story of Christian community and friendship.

I highly encourage you to do everything you can to live out this value of community this summer. What is one step you could take toward living in this kind of community?

    • Invite some new connections at church to dinner in your home
    • Start a LifeGroup that meets at your house
    • Come to the Ecclesiastes Summer Study that meets on Wednesday nights in the Fireside Room at 7:00pm for the summer
    • Gather a crew from Calvary to play pickleball or board games, go surf, or take a hike, and invite friends who don’t go to church
    • Make a meal for a family going through a hard time
    • Be the first in a group of friends to find some ways to make your conversations a little deeper and a bit more vulnerable
    • Join one of our Digging Deeper Sunday Groups that meet in the Worship Center Lobby on Sundays at 11:00am for the summer
    • Include some folks you don’t normally hang out with in something you already do regularly
    • Serve as a LifeGroup Leader in Student Ministries or as a volunteer in our Calvary Kids Ministry
    • Grab lunch after church with some new friends you sit near during the worship service

You might have another idea and that’s great! The idea is to be together, to share your life, to share your home, to share your food, and to grow as a part of God’s family. You can find out more about the official Calvary events above at CalvaryLife.org

May the Lord bless you and keep you,
    Eric Wakeling
