Come hear Ed Stetzer at Calvary!
Dear Calvary Family,
I wanted to take a moment to introduce our guest speaker for this Sunday, June 4 at our 9:00 am service - Ed Stetzer. Every pastor I’ve talked to about Ed coming and speaking at Calvary Church has reacted with something like this, “Wow! You got Ed Stetzer to speak? How did you pull that off?” So let’s get excited too!
Ed is the new Dean of Talbot School of Theology at Biola University. He is part of the academy and is a scholar, but I wouldn’t peg him as an academic or professorial communicator. Ed is a pastor at heart and an expert in the church and missions. Prior to coming to Biola, Dr Stetzer has served at Wheaton College as professor, dean and executive director of the Wheaton College Billy Graham Center. He has been a radio host, podcast host, editor-in-chief and author of many books.
His most recent book, Christians in the Age of Outrage, helps us learn to represent Jesus and his kingdom well in the crazy world we live in these days.
That’s what Ed will be speaking to us about this Sunday - Representing Jesus and His Kingdom. We live in a country filled with division, polarization, outrage, and just plain sin. How do we represent Jesus with love and grace without giving up on our biblical convictions? This is a difficult question now and will continue to get more difficult as we head into a new election cycle and as our world continues to move farther and farther away from God.
My prayer is that we would live fully submitted to the Word of God while truly loving God and our neighbor with all our heart. What changes does your life need to make to say that is true of you? How can we be a light for the gospel of Jesus within the culture God has placed us?
May the Lord bless you and keep you,
Eric
