"Rest up, so you don't get messed up"
Happy Veteran’s Day, Calvary Family! We are so thankful for those of you here at Calvary who have served in our Armed Forces!
I pray all of us have had a good week and found moments this week to rest in Jesus. It isn’t easy to find rest in our daily lives is it?
One of the funny moments from last Sunday’s sermon came when I recommended Christian author/pastor, John Mark Comer’s book, “The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry - How to Stay Emotionally Healthy and Spiritually Alive in the Chaos of the Modern World.”
I shared that I was so encouraged by the book that I bought nine additional copies and the first nine people to rush to the bookstore after the service to get the book would get it for free. Oh the irony of my offer (which didn’t dawn on me until I gave the offer!) — asking people to rush to the bookstore to get a book on “eliminating hurry.”
It just proves how challenging this whole concept is! Yet, Jesus, always patient, always gracious, continues to offer us true rest in Him…
Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” Matthew 11:28-30

We want to encourage you to try one or several of these practices this weekend and look for opportunities to integrate these practices into your everyday lives.
This Sunday, we conclude our Fall Series on “We Value” as we talk about the value of Dependence.
We look forward to gathering together, see you this weekend!
