Spiritual & Physical Care for our Church Family
Dear Calvary Family,
As the COVID-19 coronavirus continues to develop and appear in Southern California, we want to keep you updated on the impact and response from Calvary Church as it relates to our services and gatherings. Our first priority is always the care and well being of our family both spiritually and physically. We want to be properly prepared and cautious while also not being ruled by a spirit of fear. Psalm 46:1-2 says, "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear." We continue to gather together on Sundays and in LifeGroups throughout the week. We will communicate with you if that were to change.
If you have recently traveled to a country where there is a higher occurrence of or widespread cases of Coronavirus or have come into contact with any people or locations here in the USA, please be especially sensitive to the guidelines below. There is no need to be alarmed at this point, but we want to be thoughtful about those around us who may be at higher risk. If you think you may be at higher risk, please be extra cautious. If you are staying away from church for any reason, please know that we love and care for you and it's our privilege to be praying for you. Please let us know how we can care for you.
We are taking some extra precautions around our campus to help keep everything clean.
1. Our facilities team has done an extra deep cleaning of our rooms, including children's and youth ministry, and will continue to be diligent about wiping down and sanitizing all touch surfaces such as door handles and table surfaces.
2. Additional hand sanitizers have been ordered to be available in the Worship Center lobby, but supplies are limited and washing your hands properly is much more effective.
3. We ask our staff and volunteers to wash their hands regularly and to stay home if they are sick.
4. We have alternatives prepared, if needed, to not pass communion or offering in the service and to offer options for giving and communion at stations around the room.
You can help keep everyone safe at Calvary by following these guidelines:
1. Stay home if you or a family member are sick. If you are a volunteer, make sure to contact your ministry leader and let them know. If you are in a higher risk category and are not feeling well, please consult your doctor.
2. Please wash your hands with hot soapy water for at least 20 seconds as often as you can. Also, use hand sanitizer stations or your own sanitizer whenever possible.
3. Be sensitive to those around you when it comes to hugs and handshakes, including our greeters. You may not be feeling particularly vulnerable but others might be. But, of course, be your normal friendly self! Maybe it's time for a fist bump or just a warm smile. Our Sign Language Ministry has taught me to say good morning in ASL, I'll teach all of you on Sunday!
4. Try to refrain from touching your face as often and don't cough or sneeze into your hands.
5. If you know of someone who has been affected by the coronavirus, please let us know so we can care for them and pray for them.
If you do need to stay home due to any flu-like symptoms, our sermons are always available online by Monday at calvarylife.org/resources. You can also let us know how our pastors, elders and prayer volunteers can be praying for you by calling the church office at 714-973-4800 or submitting a request online at calvarylife.org/prayer
As always, we stand strong in our faith and in our care for one another. You can check back for any further updates on our website here.
May the Lord bless you and keep you,
Eric Wakeling
Senior Pastor
