Is Your Legacy Plan in Place?

10/1/26 | The Weekly | by Michael Welles

    Dear Calvary Family,

As a parent of two young kids, I have thought about having a plan in place in case something happened to my wife or me before they are adults. If you haven’t yet made a will or trust, you aren’t alone; 70% of Americans haven’t either. I want to invite you to attend our next Legacy Planning Seminar on Saturday, October 3rd from 9:30 to 11am.

    REGISTER HERE

    Who are we learning from?
Calvary has partnered with Financial Planning Ministry (FPM), and we will hear from their founder Mike Prior on what should be included in your legacy plan and explain the process FPM goes through to help you create a will or trust at no out of pocket cost to you. They do ask that you contribute to ministry causes in your estate plan as part of their mission to encourage Kingdom giving. Because Calvary supports their non-profit ministry annually, they make their estate planning services available free to our congregation. After the seminar, you will be able to sign up for times to go through their process, which results in trust documents you can notarize and put into place. If you already have a trust, but need to make changes, they can help you restate it and they will help you in the future if you need to update anything.

    Why are we doing this?
God calls us to be good stewards of what He’s entrusted to us, and that includes our kids and finances. Calvary wants to practically help us do that by offering this opportunity. Many of our members have given or want to give to Calvary or another charity in their estate plan. This is not required to participate in this process, but all giving is appreciated and keeps our ministry going here and around the world. If more money can go to bless the Kingdom, then we are all for it, even if it doesn't directly benefit Calvary.

So join me this Saturday, October 3rd to plan your family’s legacy and take this important next step. I recently went through FPMs process and it was really helpful to think through what I would do for my family and actually put the plans in place. Hopefully, Calvary’s partnership with FPM will be a beneficial blessing for your family as well.
