Thanksgiving Weekend - United Sunday at 10:00am!

11/27/24 | The Weekly | by Eric Wakeling

    Dear Calvary Family,

We are officially fully into the holiday season. Thanksgiving Day is tomorrow and then this Sunday we kick off our Advent series as we head towards Christmas Day!

The big news to remember is that we have our United Sunday with a Family Service at 10:00am with everyone all together in the Worship Center! This will be for 1st Grade and older and will include everyone from our Spanish, Mandarin, English and ASL expressions of worship. Kids Programs are available for Nursery - K at 10:00am. Plus, you are invited to stay after the service for a Party on the Patio to kick off the Christmas season!

We will begin a new series this Sunday entitled, He Shall be Called, based on the prophecy of Isaiah 9:6-7 about the coming Messiah.

For a child is born to us,
a son is given to us.
The government will rest on his shoulders.
       And he will be called:
    Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
       Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
    His government and its peace
       will never end.
He will rule with fairness and justice from the throne of his ancestor David
       for all eternity.
The passionate commitment of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies
       will make this happen!

Who shall be called these names? The child born to us, the Son of God, Jesus of Nazareth. We will be encouraged each week of December by the wondrous power and nurturing love of the God of the Universe come to live as one of us. We will also light the Advent candle each week leading towards our Christmas Candlelight services on Monday, December 23 at 7:00pm and Tuesday, December 24 at 4:00pm.

I look forward to worshiping with you this Sunday at 10:00am as we experience the Body of Christ coming together as one in him.

I also look forward to our Christmas Tree Lighting on Saturday, December 7th at 4:00pm. Please invite a friend and consider helping serve at this joyful and beautiful event.

May the Lord bless you and keep you,
    Eric Wakeling
