Tree Lighting this Saturday, December 7th!

12/7/24 | The Weekly | by Eric Wakeling

    Dear Calvary Family,

The Christmas Tree Lighting is this Saturday, December 7th at 4:00!!!

Our Tree Lighting has become one of our most beloved traditions in the last seven years here at Calvary Church. I have a couple thoughts on why it’s going to be so awesome and why it’s one of the best events to invite your friends and family who don’t normally attend church.

Here’s what we have planned for this year’s event.

    • Living Nativity with animals
    • Camel Rides
    • Petting Zoo
    • In-N-Out Truck
    • Christmas Crafts
    • Giant inflatables and other games
    • Hot Cocoa & Coffee
    • Live Music & Carols
    • Toy Drive for Kids in Hospital and Foster Care
    • Christmas for a Cause Pop-Up Shop

I can’t wait to watch you all ride camels and take pictures in front of the Living Nativity before we gather around the Christmas Tree to give away some prizes, hear the biblical account of the birth of Christ from Luke 2, sing a few carols, and then count down to light up the tree!

And that’s why I think this is one of the best events for inviting people: they will not only have fun in a friendly and festive environment while at church, but they will also have a chance to hear the Gospel in a winsome way and be invited to come back for one of our Christmas Candlelight Services later in the month.

So please invite everyone you know to join you at our Christmas Tree Lighting! The fun starts at 4:00pm and then we gather to light the tree at 6:00pm.

Please come prepared to buy dinner at the In-N-Out Truck, to donate an unwrapped toy to the Toy Drive (See Wishlist), and to buy some great gifts from our vendors at the Christmas for a Cause Pop-Up Shop!

We could use some more help if you are available to volunteer during the event or with the clean-up afterwards. Sign up to serve and find out more at CalvaryLife.org/Tree.

May the Lord bless you and keep you,
    Eric Wakeling
