"A Festival of Free Services and Goodwill"
“Each of us should please our neighbors for their good, to build them up.” – Romans 15:2 (NIV)
This Saturday morning, June 10, we are hosting NeighborGood at Calvary Church! We will be offering our neighbors free oil changes (with pre-registration), car washes, bike repairs, haircuts, lunch, notary and immigration services, and prayer while also doing beautification projects at the hospital across the street and in the neighborhood around the church. It is not too late to sign-up if you want to come serve! Learn more and sign up now at CalvaryLife.org/Good
One of our neighbors, Barbara, who heard about NeighborGood exclaimed to me, “Wow... That is a festival of free services and goodwill!” I love that response! We want our neighbors around Calvary to experience God’s extravagant love and grace for them through our care and compassion.
NeighborGood is one way to demonstrate this, but it isn’t the only way or the only opportunity. We want to encourage you to be prayerfully looking for opportunities to bless your neighbors this summer. You could offer to water plants or pick up mail or feed a pet while a neighbor is on vacation. Maybe it is prayer walking your neighborhood one morning before you go to work like Doug Sorensen often does. You could invite your neighbors to an evening of watermelon and pie in your front yard like Pastor John Sherman has a tradition of doing each summer. Or invite a family with elementary-aged kids to our free VBS this July. So, come serve this Saturday at NeighborGood but also prayerfully ask the Lord to help you “build up” your neighbors in your own neighborhood this summer, “for their good.”
Also, we are hosting a Concert this Saturday Night! My friend and extremely talented musician, Jon Guerra will be performing an intimate acoustic concert this Saturday evening at 7:00pm in the Chapel. Jon’s music has been on repeat in my life over the last few months! Find out more and get tickets at CalvaryLife.org/Concert
Oleg Reutki will be with us this coming Sunday! We have a special opportunity this Sunday to hear from our Missionary partner from Moldova, Oleg Reutki, who is in SoCal for a quick visit! You will be briefly hearing from him in our 9:00am worship service and then you will have an opportunity to hear more from him at 11:00am in the Worship Center in a time we are calling, “Donuts with Oleg.” We would love to have you join us to hear what the Lord is faithfully doing in Moldova, Ukraine, and Turkey through Oleg and his ministry, New Hope Eurasia. Learn more here.
We look forward to seeing you in the neighborhood this weekend,
Matt Doan, Reach Pastor
