An Invitation: Come Start 2023 with Worship!
Dear Calvary Family,
I would like to invite you to a special week we have planned in the life of our church called 7 Nights Of Worship. We did this event for the first time last January during our "First, Love" series in an effort to launch our church into the new year with our hearts fully aligned to receiving God's love for us, giving our love to Him, and surrendering to His will in our lives.
I watched last year as people from across our church community, from the youngest to the most mature, joined together in a unified expression of praise and outcry to God as we invited His kingdom to come and for His will to be done in our lives in 2022. I am encouraging each of you once again to make this time a part of your New Year's rhythm as we press into what God may have to say to us early on in this next chapter of our lives and our church.
We will be meeting every night for seven straight nights from January 4th-10th in Fellowship Hall at 7:00 PM. Come for one, come for all, or anything in between.
Our mutual friend and Calvary leader, Pastor Tim Nellis, uses this analogy comparing the act of worship and showing up consistently for time with the Lord to a surfer who is continuously going out into the ocean to ride the waves. The surfer never knows when the big wave is coming, but they have to regularly get out into the water and get their practice in on the small waves so that they can be ready for that big one.
Likewise, we never know at what hour God will choose to move in extravagant and powerful ways, but I trust and believe that as we continue to show up to honor and glorify Him, even within the seemingly mundane elements of our lives, the moments will come when He will reveal His glory to us in ways we cannot even fathom. I want to be ready for those big moments, so I will be making a concerted effort this week to let God know that I am ready and that He has my "Yes" very early on in this year. I hope you will join me in doing the same.
May we worship together in Spirit and in Truth,
Josh Wathen
