Annual Meeting this Sunday, May 4
Dear Calvary Family,
We have our Annual Meeting as part of our service this Sunday, May 4th (9:00am in English/ASL and at 11:00am in Spanish) and I would like to emphasize a couple of things here as we look forward to that time together. But before we get into those details, I want to assure any of you that think this sounds boring or not like church. This is just about 7-10 minutes total of the service where we update you on a few things and vote to affirm our new elders. We still will learn from God’s Word in a sermon on prayer, sing worship songs to God, take communion together, and receive a prayer of blessing.
First of all, leadership is super important in any aspect of life. Leadership within the church requires servanthood, humility, dependence on the Holy Spirit, courage, wisdom, faith, and most of all - LOVE! Please pray for these qualities to be portrayed by all of our Elders and also for our Pastors, Trustees, LifeGroup Leaders and other leaders here at Calvary.
You can read more about what leadership and eldership looks like here at Calvary Church and see names and pictures of all of our Staff and Elders at Calvarylife.org/Leaders.
We look forward to voting this Sunday on Curtis Yates and Rick Bergstrom to start a new 3-year term and for Marcelino Rios to renew for his second term. You can read more about them by clicking below.

We will also give an update on our finances this Sunday for our General Fund, Reach Fund and the Forward in Faith initiative. The specific aspect of that I would like to address here as well is for you all to understand that the majority of our General Fund giving goes towards supporting our pastoral and support staff.
These are incredible people who have dedicated their lives to serving God and serving you here at Calvary. We all understand and experience the struggle of the cost of living here in Orange County as well as general inflation on top of that. It’s pretty difficult for our pastors to afford to live in the place they serve.
We want to support them better just to be able to continue to live and serve here in our community. It’s your giving that provides the funds for their salaries and I’m asking you to prayerfully consider beginning to give or increasing your giving so we would be able to pay a more reasonable living wage for a family in this location. I understand that many of you are in the same situation and I thank you so much for your generosity and for considering how God would have you step out in faith in this way.
May the Lord bless you and keep you,
Eric Wakeling
