Dear Calvary Family,

Immanuel - God is with us! We are in the final days of Advent leading up to Christmas Day!

I have been making my Christmas preparations—buying ingredients for homemade Swedish meatballs and lutefisk (a gross Scandinavian tradition), shopping for gifts, and wrapping presents. But I’m also trying to prepare my heart. I’m not exhausted (yet) but I know that I often seem to push it this time of year by saying yes to too many events and eating way too many naughty foods.

I’m also still praying through who else I can invite to the Christmas Candlelight services next Tuesday and Wednesday. These services include beauty, grandeur, and simplicity as we remember and celebrate the birth of Jesus. The service is about an hour long and will clearly and winsomely communicate the Gospel message of salvation through Christ alone. This is a great opportunity to invite a friend, neighbor, co-worker, or family member to church for the first time. Or, to take the next step from previous invitations you’ve sent to Light the Night, Christmas Tree Lighting, or Vacation Bible School.
