COVID Regathering Update
Dear Calvary Family,
I made an announcement on Sunday regarding regathering indoors, masks, and social distancing. I want to update you here and give some additional details. We discussed the first steps to regathering indoors at the beginning of March and now we are taking some next steps as things continue to improve.
I genuinely believe that the healthiest place you can be for your spiritual, mental and physical well-being is here at church. I have said the safest was at home, which was true for a season, but we need each other to be in a holistically healthy place. The impact of isolation on our mental health has been serious. We are less safe when we are alone. It’s time to worship together again and I invite all of you to join us!
We care about all of you and we understand that there still are different perspectives. We think masks and social distancing can help, especially indoors. We will continue to provide online live streams of our worship services as well as seating on the patio outside. We also think that you can make decisions that are best for you as an active member of our congregation regarding masks and social distancing, sitting indoors or outdoors, or participating online. So please join us each Sunday as we worship together, encourage each other, and experience the joy of the Lord that strengthens us for the week ahead. Family Ministries
Because different age levels require different approaches, we have made some distinctions between youth and children. As always, our heart is to create safe and sacred environments for your children to experience God’s presence and connect in community.
Middle School and High School
When inside, we think masks and social distancing can help. We trust parents to talk with their students about mask wearing and social distancing and make the best decisions for their students and family. While we encourage mask-wearing, the choice is up to you.
Kids (through 5th Grade)
When inside, masks are requested of volunteers and children. We request volunteers to wear masks while serving to model this behavior for children. If a mask is removed, we will not require it be put back on. However, if a parent requests their own child not remove their mask indoors, we will work hard to honor their request and remind the child to put their mask on. Please let us know when checking in your child. We will continue to wash hands and sanitize often. With these changes, it is important to remember to stay home if they are showing any symptoms of sickness or have been exposed to someone who is sick.
Finally, I hope you will all make the effort to be here each Sunday, to be mentored and discipled by a fellow believer, to be in a LifeGroup, to contribute financially, to share your faith with others, to pray fervently, and to help serve those in our church and community. This is what it means to be a follower of Jesus and member of Calvary Church. Let’s live that out together on Sundays and every other day of the week.
May the Lord bless you and keep you,
Eric Wakeling
