Global Sunday is this weekend at Calvary!

11/19/23 | The Weekly | by Matt Doan

    This Sunday is Global Sunday!

We will gather together in our worship services and selected LifeGroups to celebrate how God is using our finances and our people to fulfill the “Great Commission” (Matthew 28:18-20).  We will also have delicious breakfast burritos available on the patio as a fundraiser to support the Homes of Hope GO Trip to Mexico, building 5 homes for families in need this January (suggested donation of $15 or 2 for $20 - can use cash or credit card).

We will also highlight our special Thanksgiving offering opportunity and give one more opportunity to join a GO Trip for 2024.

This Sunday will encourage and inspire you, please join us!

Here is a list of where Calvary global partners will be sharing:

    • Tom & Gayle Shook (Refugee Ministry) - Worship Center 9am
    • John & Julie Clark (N. Africa) Gentle & Lowly - B202 11am
    • Steve & Jenny Meeker (Scripture Union) Focus - Choir Room 11am
    • Steve & Tracey Geis (Papua New Guinea) Homebuilders - S7 11am
    • Don & Janie Nellis (Mexico) Hispano Service - Chapel 11am

One of the best gifts that we have been given as a church is long-term relationships with so many of our global partners. Don and Janie Nellis have served since 1968 (that is 55 years of partnership). Steve and Tracy and Tom and Gayle Shook have been supported by Calvary Church since 1992 (31 years!) and Steve and Jenny Meeker have partnered with us since 1995 (28 years!).  John and Julie Clark are relative “newbies” to our roster of Calvary global partners, serving since 2001 (for a mere 22 years!)

Add up all of these years of ministry and this Sunday we will have 334 years of experience represented by people sharing on our campus! These are people who simply love and follow Jesus as his disciples — and have helped make disciples around the world by giving away what they’ve received.

Each of these couples can echo the words of Paul in 1st Corinthians 1, “God will do this, for he is faithful to do what he says, and he has invited you into partnership with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.”

I invite you to come worship with us this Sunday as we celebrate God’s faithfulness to our global partners and as we continue to be invited into partnership to reach the world for Jesus Christ.
