Pastoral Update - A Call To Prayer
Dear Calvary Family,
My encouragement this week is a call to prayer. Let’s join together in prayer for a few different key themes.
The first way to pray is for those serving the Lord outside of our local community. That includes all of our missionaries and other partners around the world. Let’s especially be praying for the 150 members of our Homes of Hope Team heading to the Tijuana/Rosarito area in Mexico to build five homes this weekend! This trip changes lives - both for the families that will receive this new home and for the families building that home together. They leave on Friday and return Sunday night! Pray for health, safety, and a spiritual connection to the family for whom they are building this home. See more at CalvaryLife.org/GO.
The second way to pray is for the leaders of Calvary Church and specifically our Elder Board. The Elder Board is the primary authority for our church under Jesus Christ. We need your prayers for wisdom, godliness, faith, strength, insight into God’s Word, and direction from the Holy Spirit. You can see our current Elders and learn about their role in life at Calvary at CalvaryLife.org/Leaders.
This is the time of year that we ask for your nominations to the Elder Board if you are an official member of Calvary Church. (Find out the process to become a member at CalvaryLife.org/Membership.) After prayer and thoughtful consideration of 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1, please send any nominations you have to
.
Finally, let’s all be praying for our country. We are in a time of great division and worry for what we are seeing happen nationally and globally. We also are heading into Sanctity of Life Sunday and Martin Luther King Day this weekend. These holidays are symbols of things worth fighting for while remembering that the weapons of our warfare are not swords or guns, but prayer, righteous deeds, and truth in love. We have values that we care for deeply, so let’s be praying that God accomplishes them and let’s pray for how God would use each one of us to bless the world by living on mission with him.
May the Lord bless you and keep you,
Eric Wakeling
