Update on Pastor Eric + Sunday Review & Preview

11/4/21 | The Weekly | by Matt Doan

We want to thank you Church family for your prayers and words of encouragement to Pastor Eric over the last week.  If you haven’t heard, Eric was training for an upcoming Triathlon on his day off last week when he was involved in a bike accident. The accident resulted in Eric suffering a concussion and breaking his collarbone in three places.

The good news is the doctors do not think he needs surgery at this time. The difficult news is he has been in a lot of pain.  So continue to pray for our faithful Senior Pastor in the upcoming days!

We also announced the death of retired Calvary Pastor, Fred Morse last week.  Fred was 92 years old and was such a faithful servant leader throughout his years pastoring at Calvary.  We are really going to miss him!  (Memorial Service date will be announced soon). Please pray for his wife Carolyn (married 63 years!) and their kids and grandkids during this season of saying goodbye.  Yet, we know as Christians, that any goodbye for a believer in Christ is only temporary, for we will be united again in eternity with Jesus!  As the Apostle Paul encourages the church in 1 Thessalonians 3:13-14,

“ And now, dear brothers and sisters, we want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died so you will not grieve like people who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and was raised to life again, we also believe that when Jesus returns, God will bring back with him the believers who have died.”

We also want to thank all of you who generously donated candy, cupcakes, cakes and your time to serve at Light the Night last Sunday evening.

Here is a thank you note from Middle School Pastor and coordinator of the event, Josh Simpson,

“Thank you so much for all your hard work with Light The Night!  This event is not a one-person job... it takes a village to pull something like this off!

    • 1 giant spotlight
    • 2 amazing puppet shows
    • 5 delicious food trucks
    • 40+ games and attractions
    • 75 new families interested in connecting at Calvary
    • 100+ volunteers
    • 500 cakes and cupcakes
    • 2125 pounds of candy
    • 3500+ people on campus

Praise the Lord for a fun and safe night on Calvary's campus!”

This Sunday, we will continue our fall series We Value_______________, talking about Spiritual Health and Jesus’ wonderful words to take rest in Him from Matthew 11:28-30.  We believe you will be both challenged and encouraged, so please join us this Sunday at 9:00am in the Worship Center!

P.S. – One more thing…Look for the Angel Tree (serving kids who have a parent in prison) and Operation Christmas Child (shoeboxes for kids in developing countries) tables in the worship center lobby this Sunday and next Sunday to participate in our awesome Christmas outreach opportunities.
