Why attend a Passover Seder?
Dear Calvary Family,
Why attend a Passover Seder?
You have probably seen over the years that we do a Passover Seder every year on what is traditionally called Maundy Thursday, the day before Good Friday. Why do we have a Passover dinner on that day? Well, this is the day that Jesus celebrated the Passover with his disciples. It was his last Passover with them before he died and so it is called The Last Supper.
But what was Jesus doing in that meal?
Why did that meal end up becoming communion practiced in churches around the world for 2,000 years?
How do the different elements of the most traditional, Jewish Passover Seder - that is still practiced among the most orthodox and the most liberal Jewish people - point to Jesus as the Messiah?
Why is Passover important for Christians to remember and celebrate as well as Jewish people?
I would like to invite you to join us at our Passover Seder on Thursday, April 6th from 6:00-9:00 pm where you will learn and experience all the elements of this special holiday. This interactive and fun evening is $40/person which includes a delicious, full meal in addition to the Passover plate items. I will be leading you through this Seder along with David Seidman, CCS Head of School, who grew up in a Jewish home practicing all these rich traditions regularly.
Finally, here are a few reminders for the week leading up to Easter:
