Day 3: Remember His Love

Psalm 42:7-8 · · · “I hear the tumult of the raging seas as Your waves and surging tides sweep over me. But each day the Lord pours His unfailing love upon me, and through each night I sing His songs, praying to God who gives me life.”

Devotional · · · Beyond a simple attribute of our glorious God, love is the very essence of His being (I John 4:8), and the ultimate expression of His heart toward us, His creation. The greatest gift any person can ever receive, is our loving Father’s eternal demonstration of His love in the giving of His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. Being made in His image, our heart’s greatest need for love is ultimately met in His heart’s greatest expression. Nothing can ever separate us from His love (Romans 8:38-39).

Prayer · · · Heavenly Father, I receive by faith deep into my heart and soul, Your wonderful and unconditional love. I cannot begin to grasp the depth and extravagance of Your love and grace given to me and all humankind. It’s humbling and difficult to receive, for I know all too well how broken and unworthy I am. Thank you, Father, for the peace and security I have in You and the beautiful work of healing and transformation that Your love and presence is bringing to my heart. Help me to rest in Your forever love, and be an ever growing conduit of it to others.

Day 2: Remember His Power

Psalm 98:1 Sing a new song to the Lord, for He has done wonderful deeds. His right hand has won a mighty victory; His holy arm has shown his saving power!

Devotional · · · God possesses all power that defies any human comprehension, and His omnipotence transcends the known universe. An attempt to grasp even one manifestation of His power, like the creation and sustaining of the universe, leads certainly to wonder and awe. We as believers are personally most impacted and benefitted by the exertion of His power in the resurrection of Christ, our new life in Him, and the transformation into His image (Eph. 1:18-20).

Prayer · · · Almighty God, Your awesome power displayed in the cosmos and the created world I see, humbles me and also helps me believe that You can do anything. I acknowledge Your sovereign strength, and ask for Your power to prevail over the evil working against my life, my family, my church, and the world. Thank You for the power you’ve shown in raising me to knew life in Christ, and I ask for the strength to face my trials and temptations, and to walk in step with the Spirit as I follow Jesus. Father, help me to live today in the power of the Holy Spirit.

Day 1: Remember His Holiness

Psalm 96:9 “Worship the Lord in the splendor of His holiness; tremble before Him, all the earth.”

Devotional · · · God is utterly unique, glorious, mysterious, wonderful and beyond our imagination. A hint of His splendor is revealed to us through His creation, and a dim vision of His white-hot purity in righteous holiness can be glimpsed through His image revealed in Jesus Christ (Hebrews 1:3).

Prayer · · · O God, holy Creator of the universe, though I can’t see You or have any real capacity to understand You, I acknowledge Your utter holiness and humbly bow in reverence to You. My heart is in wonder and awe of You at the beauty, glory and purity of Your being. There is none like You. Glorious Father, open my spiritual eyes and mind to see and know You more, and help me grasp the chasm between my sinfulness and Your holiness...my humanness and Your deity.
