"The Lord longs to be gracious to you, therefore He will rise up to show you compassion." Isaiah 30:18
These words of the ancient prophet Isaiah show the heart of God towards you today. He doesn't just give grace, He longs to be gracious. He doesn't just show compassion, He is on the edge of His seat to eagerly be compassionate to you. That's the heart of the Christmas story as well.
The Christmas story is all about the gift of God's compassion for a weary and hurting world longing for a Savior. Compassion means "to suffer with." Jesus chose to not just suffer for us, but to step down from glory and suffer with us. We have a God who understands us and knows our deepest pains and greatest needs.
This December we will hear about God's compassion for us and how we can both receive that gift and give that gift to others. One way we will have the opportunity to give that gift is through partnering with Compassion International to help sponsor children living in extreme poverty around the world.
