Connecting as part of the Calvary Family

9/2/21 | The Weekly | by Eric Wakeling

    Dear Calvary Family,

I always start my emails with Dear Calvary Family because that’s what we are called to be as a church. We are a family. We are a community. That means we are so much more than a service to watch or attend. We are more than a place to go on Sunday mornings. I truly hope and pray that each person who calls Calvary Church their home will have a true experience of being known and knowing others in our family.

Family includes serving one another, doing your part around the house, contributing to the needs of the family, sacrificing for one another, and showing up when the family needs you.

Family also involves what I call the “intimacy of everyday life.” This kind of intimacy in a family doesn’t just happen during Thanksgiving Dinner or Easter Brunch or Birthday celebrations. Those are the big events. Intimacy happens in the simple, everyday moments like morning coffee, bedtime rituals, doing the dishes together, and sitting in the backyard on a warm summer evening with a cold drink.

I genuinely believe that the two best ways to feel like family at Calvary Church are serving together and being in a LifeGroup. We feel a deep unity when we are striving together towards a common goal. We can’t know each other unless we are together consistently.

So there are two responses to this:

    • Get involved in service somewhere at Calvary Church - Children's or Student Ministry, Special Needs, Ushers, Greeters, leading a LifeGroup, Pop Up Pantry, ESL, Worship Team, Tech Team, Care Ministry, and so much more. Take a next step at calvarylife.org/serve

    • Join a LifeGroup. We have our LifeGroup Preview Fair this Sunday immediately following the service around 10:15am on the Patio. You can check out all the potential new and existing groups to join at the different tables that day. You can also find out more at calvarylife.org/groups

I pray you will experience the intimacy of everyday life with the family of Calvary Church.

May the Lord bless you and keep you,
    Eric Wakeling
