Trusting in the Lord for His Provision

2/2/23 | The Weekly | by Eric Wakeling

    Dear Calvary Family,

I wanted to thank you again for your generous and worship-filled giving to Calvary Church. We updated you recently that we ended the calendar year $136,000 (12.5%) behind in our General Fund and $64,000 (13.3%) behind in our Reach Fund. We are currently only $56,000 (2.4%) behind in General, but we are still $64,000 (12%) behind in Reach. We praise God for this and, again, I thank you for answering the call in response to how we ended a difficult financial year in our country that also brings challenges to the work of ministry. We continue to trust in the Lord for His provision.

Our desire is to help our people grow in our faith and service to the Lord, raise up children and youth well, to see the gospel go out to both our neighborhoods and the nations, and to support those in need in our church and local community.

One of the ways we help people in moments of need is through our Emergency Needs Fund (ENF) offering. This is a special fund that gives us the ability to give financial assistance to people in our church or in our surrounding community. This is a difficult time with rising inflation, plummeting stock markets, and even increased utility costs. In the past year, we were able to use this fund to support 264 families and 167 single mothers with approximately $90,000 in financial help through your generosity.

Many people on fixed incomes are struggling with massive gas bill increases in a cold couple months. I know my recent gas bill was over 4x what it used to be this time of year. We are checking in with our senior adults to see how we can help those on a fixed income with some of these costs. That’s what the Emergency Needs Fund is created to do. Let us know if you know of people in your life who need help with increased utility bills.

You can give today to help others in need at CalvaryLife.org/ENF

But please, let us know if you need help in this season as well. Maybe your gas bill was way too high or your car is broken down and you can’t get to work. Email or call 714-550-2310 to apply for ENF financial assistance.

We also know that some of you have an extra car you could give away or a room or back house you could allow someone to stay in for free or for very low rates. We have people in our church and people we are ministering to now that could use a car or a place to stay. I personally know someone who needs both these things right now and it would make a massive impact in their life. Our giving can be creative and we are happy to work with you and answer any questions about how this works with tax deductions and all that. Please email Michael Welles, Executive Pastor, at to process through those questions and any regarding your giving statements.

Finally, the 2022 giving statements have gone out this week but always remember that you can find this information online at any time from CalvaryLife.org/Give. Simply login to your account, choose "My Giving History" and download the 2022 PDF Statement. If you have any questions about your statement, you can email us at

Thanks again for your partnership in ministry and support of Calvary Church of Santa Ana. Be sure to check out the Year In Review of 2022 to see how your gifts were used to make a difference locally and globally.

May the Lord bless you and keep you,
    Eric Wakeling
